Nuclear safety

Objective
Protect individuals, society and the environment by establishing and maintaining nuclear plants an effective defense against radiological hazards.
System control and protection of reactor
drive systems control rods which they are inserted automatically under certain circumstances, extinguishing the nuclear reaction and giving rise to what is called automatic shutdown or "shot."
instrumentation systems , both within and outside the nucleus, to monitor performance and measure the values used to know the parameters needed for reactor control.
 Defense in Depth
is the interposition of various protective barriers to ensure that if a failure occurs, there is another level of protection after that can prevent this failure to progress and produce unwanted consequences.

The cooling system
To remove the heat generated in the fuel elements by the fission of nuclei  s and uses a refrigerant, such as light water which in turn serves as moderator
